The Type of Friend
I am not the friend who will sugar coat anything simply because it's what you'd like to hear. Do not come to me with a problem and expect a cookie cutter response or words that will temporarily make you feel better. I am the friend who will tell it like it is. I will never keep something from you just because it might spare your feelings. Call it 'tough love' or whatever else you'd like. But I will always be straight up with you. It may seem harsh, but I have too many problems and worries of my own to be focused on. Sure, come to me and I'll be gentle with you, I will console you, I will comfort you. BUT. When you have a consistent problem in your life that YOU have the ability to fix, stop complaining, stop bitching and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. And I will not hesitate to tell it like it is. My mental health is a constant journey I am trying to fix. I have no sympathy for someone who consistently complains about how depressed they are and how much they're struggling and then does nothing to help themselves. ESPECIALLY when I am giving you an outlet that will help combat some of what you're feeling. You are your own worst enemy. I do it to myself sometimes, too. I self sabotage. The difference is that some days, I suck it up and I do my hour of exercise. I'm tired of my own excuses, I don't need yours as well.
